CELEBRATION POT LUCK DINNER - Saturday, August 25th

 

Here are some photos of Saturdays Celebration Pot Luck evening which was attended by some twenty five guests.  The event was to mark the 11^th year of the present Society,  sixteen years since the formation of Hyde Creek Streamkeepers and thirty years since the bath tub in the back yard project.

A very pleasant evening was had by all with a wonderful array of food being brought by those attending. Thanks to all those who made it such a successful evening.

 

 

 

 

 

One unexpected and very welcomed guest was Peter Crowder himself who initiated the “bathtub in the backyard” some thirty years ago; he was accompanied by his grandson and were given a tour of the hatchery.

 The cutting of the celebratory cake was carried out by the oldest member present, Linda Dore assisted by the second oldest member, Shane Peachman.

 

Upper Hyde Creek Work Party - August 18, 2012

A Society work party was arranged with Wesbild to clean up and repair Upper Hyde Creek on Burke Mountain in Coquitlam on August 18th.   We started at 9:00am with a good crew of volunteers and the assistance of Mike Collins from Wesbild.

About eight years ago a lot of work was done by Wesbild to provide a suitable habitat for juvenile salmon with a side channel that lead to a deep pond.  Over the years the area has deteriorated with much of the area filled in. 

Manhole covers provide some indication as to the amount of planning and work done in the area.

Mike Collins showed up with machinery to help with the project.
